Why I'm Not Writing This Week 7/26

Welcome to "Why I'm Not Writing." We all know that the only thing writers like doing more than writing is avoiding writing. So every Friday I list five things that have distracted me from my writing that week.

I also encourage you to share with me what made you procrastinate this week by posting with #whyimnotwriting on Twitter, Facebook & Instagram, or share in the comments below. I'll feature my favorites with everyone here.

Back To The Gym

I’m making a bit effort to get back to the gym this week. We’re gone three times so far and have found a work-dinner-gym-shower-sleep rhythm that’s working pretty well so far. I’m hoping we can keep up the momentum we have, as I’m actually starting to like my exercise routine!

Car Shopping

We have some potentially big changes coming up soon and are in need of a bigger, more reliable car. Unfortunately, my tiny 2000 Honda Civic isn’t cutting it anymore. We’re looking into a larger, cross-over vehicle and have a few brands in mind we want to check out next week when we get time to do our test drives.

Rough Week For Queries

I’ve been querying my YA Fantasy novel, THE PATH TO THE STONE, again recently. Part of the querying process really energizes me and reminds me how exciting it is imaging your book out in the world, but the other part, the rejections, and the silence, and seeing everyone else get agents and get their books published, really sucks. It’s been a rough week in regards to querying, but I’m so lucky to have an amazing support system that helps me through it.

Queer Eye Season 4

The latest season of Netflix’s Queer Eye show came on this weekend. If you’ve read WINW before, you know that I absolutely love this show. It’s a little corny, but a lot of beautiful, and you can’t ask for a better bunch of hosts. If you’ve never watch the show before, and love reality fashion shows, I highly recommend it!

Camp NaNoWriMo

This is the last full week of Camp NaNoWriMo. I’ve fallen away from my Prompt-A-Day idea for now and focused on revising the opening pages of my newest book, ON THE RAILS. I decided to switch the book to third person, so it’s a big adjustment and challenge, but I think it’ll be worth it in the end.
