Why I'm Not Writing This Week 2/2

Welcome to "Why I'm Not Writing." We all know that the only thing writers like doing better than writing is avoiding writing. So every Friday I list five things that have distracted me from my writing that week.

I also encourage you to share with me what made you procrastinate this week by posting with #whyimnotwriting on Twitter, Facebook & Instagram, or share in the comments below. I'll feature my favorites with everyone here.

Happy February!

Somehow the first months of 2018 is over and it's now February. I don't know where January went but now I'm looking around realizing we're already well into this year. Next thing you know February will be over, since it's so short, and then it will be March and then my birthday and then the summer, then the holidays and we'll be into 2019. It's a terrifying thing to think about.

One Day At A Time

Season two of One Day At A Time is now on Netflix. When I say this is the only sitcom I've ever watched that made me bawl like a baby, I mean it. At this season finale, I sat on my couch, holding a pillow to my chest and crying my eyes out. I heard Daniel sniffling and turned around to see he was doing the same thing. So well done!!

Books on Books on Books

I'm continuing to receive Advance Reader Copies of books from publishers wanting reviews. I'm currently fully booked through April. I've had a couple of indie authors request their books to be read and reviewed, which I would love to do, but I do have to give preference to the publishers since they provide me with recurring content. However, I do have a waitlist and am continuing to work on it. If you have a book of your own or just a book you're excited about, please contact me and I'll see what I can do!

Escape Room

My day job had a team building day, where we participated in an Escape Room. I thought it would be like solving puzzles and working out solutions as a team. Instead, we were blindfolded, chained to a pole and chased by zombies. I have it about five seconds and then start screaming to be let out. I left but the rest of my team did pretty good and won the game... sort of.

Upcoming Writer's Retreat!

This week I signed up for a writing retreat about an hour away from me. I'll spend a weekend at a bed and breakfast, with the point just to be there to write and work on my novel. It got me thinking about other work and networking events I can do. I found a conference in April and another potential retreat in May. I'd love to get to one retreat, conference or workshop every month. If you have any that you recommend, please let me know!
