Welcome to "Why I'm Not Writing." We all know that the only thing writers like doing more than writing is avoiding writing. So every Friday I list five things that have distracted me from my writing that week.
I also encourage you to share with me what made you procrastinate this week by posting with #whyimnotwriting on Twitter, Facebook & Instagram, or share in the comments below. I'll feature my favorites with everyone here.
Riverrun Film Festival
The film festival ended on Sunday of this week. While I’m always sad to see it come to an end, it was such a great year, I can’t help but get excited for the 2020 film festival already. We attended a couple more events and saw an excellent and heartwarming film called The Tomorrow Man.
Miraculously, I was able to get caught up on my word count this week. I wrote 2,400 words on Tuesday, which got me back where I needed to be. Even though I’ve struggled with the middle section, I’m not over the halfway point and close to the climactic scene. I’m already pretty excited to jump into revisions.
Tick Season 2
Amazon Prime released season 2 of The Tick, a parady super-hero TV show based on an older show of the same name. My husband and I loved Season 1 and were quick to jump into Season 2. It did not disappoint at all! This show has all the humor of a Marvel movie with 100% less of the “I take myself very seriously even though I’m in a spandex suit” attitude.
Pollen has fallen hard on North Carolina this month and I’m feeling the effects. Sneezing, coughing and stuffiness are just the beginning of my symptoms, unfortunately. Thing seem to be calming down, but I’m keeping my allergy pills at the ready…
Meet The Intern: Grace
I’m really excited to introduce Grace, an Intern who has been helping me out this Spring. She’s a student at Salem college and training to run her own blog and become a full-time writer. You can read her recent review of A Pack of Blood and Lie here.
